sometimes when there is a groundless aspect to our lives, we find a certain thrill - that our lives are moving on is some wild directions, without tether. It is in these moments that anything is possible. that whatever we were, is now open to re-invention.

I am flying & though the plane has landed, there is still this weightless aspect.

it is hot & humid, like the last days of summer here in Austin. today we take off for the festival .. I am so lucky to do what I love, make music & films .. somehow there is always a new corner to turn, a form unseen suddenly come to light. inspired I jump.

the fall brings me to this cloud city.

after a trip to Portland to record music, listening to music & breathing the moist air of the coming autumn, a funny thing happened.

I 'signed' my first artist. this is a big day as I have been an artist my whole life
& now to get the opportunity to help another one become her true potential is quite a gift.

I am pleased to say that she is a friend of mine & I love her music.
Luz Elena is her name & Y La Bamba is her game.

Steve Taylor and Cohen first met in Seattle in 2000, wandered off to
New York City and Los Angeles respectively, enduring collapsing
apartment buildings and dangling major label contracts, only to find
themselves living in the Bay Area with utterly unique slants on the
singer songwriter tradition; Cohen [ GYPSYPOP ] with his mix of gypsy,
bluegrass, and symphonic pop, and Steve Taylor, who now plays guitar
and organ at a predominantly black Oakland church, with a sound
between Elliot Smith and a proggy David Bowie playing Philly Soul.

1st time.

truely a beautiful time. met great people, had excellent food, saw a fashion show, drank a good amount & checked out the austin music scene. hot & humid yes. great rivers to jump into & AC all the way .. spent time with new friends & even wrote a couple songs ..

I miss it already .. just flew into SF & am looking into the fog & remembering the little moments of my weekend ..

I will return .. & play some GYPSYPOP shows & see what happens . .
